In a thrilling culmination to the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Rangers International Football Club of Enugu for their triumphant league title win.
The Rangers secured the championship with a game still in hand, following a decisive 2-0 victory over Bendel Insurance Football Club at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday.
The match saw a brilliant display of skill and strategy, with Kenechukwu Agu striking first in the 33rd minute, followed by a 65th-minute goal from Chidiebere Nwobodo. This victory, under the guidance of coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, marked the Rangers’ eighth league title and their second since 2016.
Governor Mbah highlighted the significance of sports infrastructure in this achievement. "Restoring our pitch to its prime condition right after we took office was a crucial boost for the team. It allowed the Rangers to play their home matches at The Cathedral, providing them with the motivation they needed," he remarked.
This season’s victory not only underscores the Rangers' prowess on the field but also exemplifies the impact of supportive leadership and infrastructure in sports success.
